Mr Rohit Sharma is an experienced consultant ophthalmologist with expertise in treating glaucoma and cataracts, performing complex glaucoma surgery, as well as laser eye surgical procedures. Mr Sharma is based in Derby and Burton-upon-Trent at Nuffield Health Derby Hospital and Burton Clinic, respectively. At these clinics, he also provides general ophthalmology treatments, emergency ophthalmic care and minor ophthalmic procedures.
Following graduation and obtaining his MBBS, Mr Sharma went on to complete his Master's degree in Surgery (Ophthalmology) after which he gained further ophthalmic training in several leading hospitals in the UK, from London and Cambridge to Scotland. Mr Sharma is actively involved in research and was awarded the 'Fight for Sight Award' by the Royal College of Ophthalmologists, London which also included a research bursary.
Mr Sharma has a special interest in glaucoma surgery and has completed advanced subspecialty training in Newcastle-upon-Tyne, as well as completing the Senior Glaucoma Fellowship at Birmingham and Midland Eye Centre. He also has an interest in the latest innovative treatments within ophthalmology and has undertaken further training with new microinvasive treatments, such as Xen implants.
